custom boot animation

ok so i have a rooted tb and am running the stock rom but i am having issues changing the boot animation i have tried to manually adding a few to /system/customize/resource i am make sure the name is boot animation.zip. now my question is do i need a custom rom to do this or am i doing somthing wrong. also i have added a custom splash screen using the splash screen flash tool... please help thanks

You need to rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip if you are placing it in the /resource folder. Splash screens are flashed in hboot.
