Custom Ringtones Issues

Is there any reason the phone would get rid of my custom ringtones? I select a song and use their editor to select the piece of the song I'd like the ringtone to be, and it works. But by the time I get another call, its vanished. Now I read on here that you must create a ringtone folder on your phone but can you still edit those to play only a select part? Additionally, why does it let me do that to any song in the first place if it doesn't stick?

Apologies if this has been covered before, I did attempt to look through the forums and didn't see a similar post, but I may have missed it.

I haven't tried to use a song for a ring tone yet on my incredible but did that a lot on my MOTO Droid with only a few problems. I'm not sure if it was a song or a ring tone that I used but it did disappear like yours. I just put a song as a ring tone to test out and ill get back with you. It shouldn't have to do with the fact that you have or don't have a media file, that only helps you to save tones or notifications and add them in the settings.

I tried a couple of things
1. just adding a song from my media file on the sdcard as a ring tone and did not work.
2. created a music file on the phone storage and that didn't work.
3. moved the song into the phone storage in the ring tone file with the other ring tones and that didn't work either.

And for some reason now I can't even change my ring tone to anything. Either I screwed up a file on the phone storage (which I only created 1 so I don't think that's the problem or we both have an app that is causing this issue.

Can anyone else think of anything I would be missing?

I don't know, but length could be an issue. Are you trying to use the entire song file or did you edit it down to a manageable (useable) size?

I've seen an app (but can't remember it's name) that allows you to create a ringtone from a song - maybe it does something special in the process to make it work.

HTH!

I'm using the full size song for the ring tone and tried to assign it again this morning from the ring tone file on the phone storage and its been working all morning. Not sure if it's because of the location of the song or not but op you might want to move the song you want to the ring tone file.
