So, I used the RootMe/UnRootMe Droid X two Click Root system to root my phone. I was on 2.2 Froyo and went back to 2.1 due to some issues I was having. Main reason I re-rooted was to get the WiFi Tether back.

Anyways, heres my question. I am sticking with 2.1 - update 1 and was wondering if I get the ROM-Manager, and upload a custom ROM on the stock OS, will I still get the Offical WiFi release update?? Or is that a negative? I appreciate any responses.

Thanks Nick

Not sure on that. Also not sure if you can set a rom that's not 2.2.

Wouldn't worry about the OTA at this point, the roms you can get off of Rom MAnager will always be way better and more efficient than any OFFICIAL update, take that FROYO!

afaik, if you load any 2.2 rom, the update process won't happen (OTA) which is probably a good thing. once the OTA hits, the rom developers can take it apart and give us the good parts without any extra bloat that verizon decides to place onto the OS.

plus with the OTA, you're almost guaranteed to lose root until someone figures out how to regain it.
