Anyone think it would be nice to start a central location to collect custom boot animations, like the Nexus One boot animation??

Also, does anyone have the stock bootanimation.zip for the Fascinate? I've tried searching online and can't find anyone with an upload for it.

I was just thinking this last night. I was looking for custom boot animations but having a hard time finding them because they're all over the place.

This is the boot animation I've been using.. well, I've been going back between this and the dancing banana, because that's how I roll.

I grabbed the nexus-bios-boot. I think these are set up to be applied via recovery.. I didn't bother, I'd just recommend you open it up and rip the bootanimation.zip out of it.

For those who like them some banana boot..

Here's the file.

here's what i've been using:

i've also been using a reverse of the galaxy s animation (sans verizon) for the shutdown animation

so in case you don't know how to change:
(you will need a kernel that allows for boot animation changes for it to work)

boot animation: here

place bootanimation.zip in /system/media or /data/local

shutdown animation: here

place all the png's in /system/media/video/shutdown

presto chango! no more verizon stuff!

Quick question regarding stock/custom boot animations...

I rooted and installed the lagfix. Since than when I boot up, Samsung comes up and than the screen goes black and I can hear the sounds but no graphics. I restored and rerooted...nothing. It's not a huge deal, but how would I go about installing the stock animation again? I downloaded the "bootanimation.zip" file from this thread...but how do I get it installed? Thanks!

I saw above me someone has steps...but I am running just the stock kernel (to my knowledge). I just rooted and that's it.

mark, I didn't think the stock kernel allowed changes in boot animations so not sure if this will work for you or even if it's safe to do but when changing boot animations you move or copy the bootanimation.zip file to the system/media directory and that's it.

As far as restoring the stock one, I don't know how you would have lost it in the first place, maybe a wipe and restore is in order? I'm sure someone on here has more knowledge than I do, though.

if you're not using a kernel that allows for it, placing bootanimation.zip in /system/media or /data/local won't do anything for you.

not sure how you lost the original boot animation, maybe look in those locations to see if there is a bootanimation.zip in there? if there is, try deleting it and see if that brings the original back

Doesn't the lag fix do something with the stock boot animation? When I had the lag fix app there was a "restore boot animation"option IIRC

I did a few restore and reboots...nothing. I uninstalled the lagfix and my battery life is better (16 hours and at 50%)...but no boot up animation.

I believe he's referring to RyanZA's lag fix from the market. There is an option within that program which says something about restoring boot animation but if I remember correctly (seems like so long ago now that VooDoo is here) it didn't do anything.
