For the first and second generation Moto Xs, customization was final from the factory. However, the Moto Gs and Moto Es had user replaceable backs or bumpers.

The LG G4 is going to have user replaceable backs in materials like leather.

Should Motomaker for the third generation Moto X change so backs are user replaceable?

I'd prefer user replaceable from how often I want to change things up. That being said, I really hate the idea of the hit that build quality takes when you make things removable.

depends on battery size. for me it's a lot more important than aesthetics, so I'd like it to be replaceable if they go with the trendy smaller "efficient" battery.

they use a 3500+ or close to that, I won't mind if they seal it, and I'd enjoy the residual build quality.

Any G4 build-quality issues yet? :)

Let me just say they are tossing around some really interesting ideas for the 2016 X.
