CWM Recovery did not recover Apps and Games.

Hello,

I had flashed CWM recovery to my GT P3100 and had taken a backup to external SD Card and later re flashed stock recovery.
Few days back after installing Chainfire 3D driver, my tab soft bricked. (would not go beyond Galaxy tab 2 screen).
I went stock recovery and did a wipe data/factory reset and when I saw completed message, I rebooted the tab and still stuck at Galaxy tab 2 screen.
So I flashed CWM recovery and tried restoring from the backup I had taken. It worked. However all my Games and App are gone.

Is it because I wiped data using stock recovery?
Does CWM take back up of apps? or just rom?
