CyanogenMod 6.0 Test 8 - Froyo, Working Camera

That's right, CyanogenMod6 Test 8 has the camera working. I'm downloading it now, so I'll come back with impressions.

The only thing is that the camcorder is still broken.

Get it off of ROM Manager in the Koush section (requires the Premium version). Also, ROM Manager has a new section: Ihtfp69, which has the SkyRaider 1.9 Beta and the Koush Camera Fix.

Anyone flashing Cyanogen now that the camera works?

Flashing now, will report back after playing with it for a while. The camera was the only thing holding me back from CyMod6.

I'm doing a Nandroid backup right now. Kind of excited. I loved CM6, but I returned to Stock ROM because I needed the camera.

I was in the same boat as you my friend. As a photographer, the camera was one of the things that really drew me to this phone to begin with. Not having that would have just felt...wrong..haha

Ok, I just got it installed. Camera works decent (it may be a little below the Stock ROM's, but I can live with that).

Anyways, trying to use the camcorder causes it to reboot. Or at least it did for me; so just a heads up there. Other than that, it works great!

I believe so. I was able to scan and find a bluetooth headset.

Sweet thank you sir. Also i see different instructions on flashing a rom some say to wipe others don't mention it. if you use rom manager do i still need to wipe. Sorry for asking a question that i know has probably been asked a million times and i am reading right now trying to find a proper answer while I'm downloading. I have been reading about this stuff since i got my droid on release date. Just been nervous to try. Totally different that a blackberry hybrid. LOL

I would. I wiped for both (Sense Froyo and CM6)
Otherwise you might get the boot loop issue.

So far, this ROM is amazing. Fast as lightning, camera, GPS, it's all there. Once they get the camcorder working, and the camera to the full 8MP, it'll be perfect. I'm gonna try SkyRaider with the camera patch, see how that goes. But right now this is my new daily driver!

The camera is already at 8MP. It's in one of the settings, you have to scroll down.
