Is there a setting in a rom (mostly cyanogenmod though because i heard it is faster than stock and really good) that allows the removal of the system keys on the bottom ONLY in homescreen. What is that called anyways (the soft keys)? I'm trying to have system keys removed for a theme but I want to keep it in all the applications.

There is something called "Expanded Desktop Mode" that I believe is a mod. Basically it lets you go into a full screen mode by hitting a toggle when you hold die in the power menu. I know Minco has it, using that now.

oh that's what expanded desktop mode is? I watched a cyanogenmod review and he was asking what it was. Heard that cyanogen mod could minimize that but couldn't find the setting. Guess that is it. Wish it was automatic rather than a toggle but I guess that's all i can get,.

There is a rom called Paranoid Android that does exactly what you want and even more. Right now the version with that feature is only available on their beta releases so you might want to wait a bit for the official 3.0 release. They are just as fast and stable as CM10 if not more so. It allows you to auto-hide the toolbar in any apps you want along with custom dpi, UI mode, and nav bar button colors for each individual app. They are also working on an optional pie UI that can completely replace Android's default system UI. You will be able to switch between Phone UI, Tablet UI, Phablet UI and this new one as often as you want without even rebooting. Here is a link to their page on xda: [AOSPA 4.2.1] PARANOIDANDROID 2.99 betaNINE.9+ (Jan 23) | PIE, THIRD BETA RELEASE - xda-developers

Well when you turn it on I believe it stays on until you turn if off.

I personally don't use my phone like that and don't mind the buttons but I guess it's nice to have that option, especially if you want to try to limit a kid from getting outa the game they are playing. That'd be the only time I'd use it

I've recently switched from AOKP to Paranoid Android and I'm loving it. In AOKP, when you hold the power button, you get an option on the menu that allows you to hide the navigation bar. In Paranoid Android, you get expanded desktop which hides status bar and navigation bar. What makes PA so cool, though, is you can have certain apps (or your homescreen) automatically go into expanded desktop so you can remove the navigation keys from only the screens you want rather than switching it on and off.

The next cool thing about PA is what they're calling pie. Basically, when you are in expanded desktop mode, you can bring up some on screen navigation by sliding your finger on the edge of the screen. Think expanded controls from the stock browser. It's very slick.

As far as custom ROMs, I'd either recommend AOKP for the extra included options (nav ring shortcuts are amazing) or PA for its hybrid (phone/phablet/tablet) per app customizations. I tried CM very briefly, but switched back to AOKP because it offered more. It's stable and quick. I've noticed AOKP is faster than PA, though, while my phone is underclocked so I might have to stop underclocking on PA.

Another thing, AOKP has custom LED light controls customizable. Awesome ROM.
