I did my first bike ride using my Gear S2 BT / Wi-Fi version. I first started Here GPS app and then started workout. I think I saw a message about it saying there was a location issue. After workout completed I noticed I had no distance or mph info in S Health app. Has anyone used cycling and Here at the same time and got this info? Next workout I'll just try it without using Here app.

the wifi bt version does not have an internal GPS. So you must have you phone for that data. hope this helps some.

It could also be that you have to grant permission to the app to use fine location. this would be found in setting, application, select the app the click permissions.

It's been a few months, but if I initiate the SHealth bicycling tracking on the watch, S Health on the phone loads and tracks my route, distance, speed, altitude, and heart rate quite nicely. You can find it all in the SHealth app on your phone. Doesn't work so well sometimes if I let the watch auto-detect that I'm cycling, for some reason. I have also used Here simultaneously for guidance while riding.

I did start the cycling workout from the watch, but i didnt check if app started on my phone. I think it might of been a location permission issue. Ill try it again.

Sounds like your phones GPS didn't get a position fix before taking off. What I found on my Gear Fit was I had to enable location on the phone then start the s health route track . If I started from the watch I got that error about half the time.
