Android Central Question

Hi all,

I have a Nexus 6, with Nougat installed, a Huawei Watch 2 Classic with Oreo and a pair of Sony Bluetooth Headphones. In an ideal state, I would like to connect my bluetooth to my watch, and my watch to my phone.

I was reading that you can separate from your phone with the Wear OS as long as both have a signal (Wifi/cell for phone and Wifi for Watch). I wanted to see if I was away from my phone, but still connected via Wifi, if I am able to stream and take phone calls through my watch, then to my bluetooth headphones.

I like the idea of the watch being able to separate from the phone, but "tethered" via wifi, but cant seem to get the bluetooth to play music from my phone, bounced to my watch then to my headphones. I havent tried to take a call yet, but figured if the music didnt work the call probably would not either.

Has anyone got this sort of setup to work?

I checked the bluetooth settings on the watch, and I do not see an Output option. I have paired the headphones both with my phone and with my watch.

Currently, the watch appears connected to the Nexus. The headphones are paired, but currently disconnected. Was wondering if I should set the "voice call through watch" then pair my headphones to the watch.

So far, on an initial test, I had my headphones paired to the watch. Then went to the podcast app on the watch to play it, but it began playing the podcast through the speaker on the phone.

Maybe it will only play music that is loaded locally, which is a bummer if you are trying to stream.

Yes, you need to pair your bt headset to the watch.

Yeah got the pairing bit with the watch. But can I stream audio from the phone to the watch, then to my headphones? Right now it just plays from the phone speaker. Sorry, I figured its an order of operations sort of thing, but Im not sure which step im missing.
