Damaged SD card

So out of the blue I got an error message saying that my SD card was damaged and I need to format the card. Has this happened to anyone? Is formatting the card the only fix? HELP!

have you tried re-inserting the card first?
and perhaps try reading the card from a card reader on a computer?

plug the card into a PC and run the scan and fix tool. It will fix it.

Had the same thing happen to me today. Out of nowhere, my icons start turning into the green android icons (shortcuts) and it tells me it is safe to take out my SD card. Then, when I dog a little deeper, I get the Damaged SD Card error.

So, ran to Radio Shack and got the MicroSD adapter - came home and performed the above tip - and now it works like a champ! Thank you, PMP!

Where can I find the scan and fix tool? It isn't coming up when I search for it on my Vista machine.

My computer... Right click on sdcard... And look around... Might be in properties its been awhile, but I know I seen it somewhere.. not at home or I would be able ro tell you exact
