So my phone is encrypted with pin enabled as a result of receiving work emails on it. I noticed in other forums that on devices not running stock android, this precluded you from being able to enable DashClock. That didn't seem to be the case with those running stock on a Nexus 4. I would have thought I would have been able to put in DashClock even with the encryption/pin but it doesn't seem like that's the case. Anyone else have this issue? Assume there is still no work-around.

I am not following the question. Do you want to use DashClock and still have the device password protected?

Well if you are planning on rooting your phone you can use a mod that will remove the exchange password requirement.
