Data and voice on 3g?

I'm considering a switch to the maxx. I live in an area that gets spotty 4G coverage at best. With that in mind, can I talk on the phone and get data at the same time? As an example, I'm driving using my headset to talk, while at the same time using the phone as a gps. Or I place the phone in speakers mode while searching for something on. Is the Maxx capable of this on 3G?

Unfortunately, I don't believe the Maxx can support simultaneous voice and data on 3G--only 4G.

You will need 4G to do that. As far as I know, only the HTC Thunderbolt and other newer HTC devices can do this while on 3G due to dual radios.
