How is this possible? I can't make calls or send texts, but I can surf the web. VM was, as per usual, useless.

My phone is rooted and running the xionia + standard rom (minus the bloat)

It had been working fine for a few days prior to this morning under that configuration, so my best attempt at logic says it probably isn't related to the root. Any other ideas?

no sir, phone is brand new. It was working fine for about a week and now this. What's interesting is that if I put the phone in EVDO only mode it seems to cure the intermittent 3g problem I was having...and should theoretically work with voice and sms (Rev a), and yet it still doesn't allow calls or sms. 3 bars should be enough for a call correct?

I had a month each with two different handsets running data only with no voice or sms or mms. samsung mantra and kyocera jax. vm couldn't figure it out on either account. both phones had outdated prl's but vm wouldn't/couldn't update them. samsung was replaced with refurb with new prl, worked. the kyocera I opened a new phone # on a new device after about 5 weeks of prolonged useless 'customer service' escalations.
good luck.

Interesting. I'm starting to wonder if some of the 3G "outages" are PRL problems. I work about 30 miles from where I live and I find I'll lose data most often on the trip to or from work.

I also noted there's no way to update the PRL in the Optimus V, whereas my EVO had an item for it under Settings.

For those that don't know what a PRL is:

I use three VM devices for internet access. My Optimus V, my old Rumor Touch (now my woman's, upgrade from that totally locked-out Samsung Mantra) and a USB dongle (Novatech or something.)
I can't check the PRL on the USB dongle, but the PRL in each of our phones is different. And, one of the three devices is usually working in the same physical location while the others don't. Sometimes all three are out of service at the same time. Then I assume 3G outage.

There's a thread here on this forum about updating the PRL on the V. link
Best of luck! I'm still trying to get the new PRL to stick in my phone. Doesn't want to read/write that file.

Thanks, but that's not what I meant; I meant Virgin isn't providing a way to update the PRL. That seems highly suspicious. This is ABSOLUTELY something that should NOT require us to hack our own phones.

well i didnt have data for about 2 months i believe and now for the past 4 days i believe i now have data, i guess they fixed it or something. my calls and text and mms work as well. sucks for you! lolz, reflash rom might fix it idk
