Data Connection Problems

Many times during the day, I am unable to connect to any application that uses data like the internet, facebook, weather or email. In order for it to work again, I either need to reboot my phone or turn on wi-fi, then turn it back off. This is getting really annoying. Is anyone else having this problem. This is happening where I live (3G area - central NJ), but does not happen where I work (4G area - NYC).

EDIT: Is this part of the 3G issue that a soon to be released OTA update is supposed to fix?

this is common--as many are experiencing issues with the 4g to 3g handoff and also the data on 3g reception.
as you've found, there are many work-arounds (also enable airplane mode, then disable airplane mode)

this 4g-3g handoff & data issues therein will probably be fixed with the impending RUU that is in the process of being released over the next 2 weeks to Thunderbolts
 
Yeah I have been REALLY fighting this today... enough that I switched to just the 3G - CDMA PRL only (for now)
 
I almost want to go back to my blackberry, but still can't but the TB down. :)
 
Hopefully the OTA will fix this. I have the same problem too and I know its the switching between 3G and 4G. I have no problems if I set my phone to 3G only but would be nice if I didn't have to do that.
 
Ive been having the same problem as well. Just got off the phone with Support and they are going to send me a new Sim card. The girl that helped me said she was having the same problem and that a Sim card switch corrected it. We'll see...
 
I'm in the same area and have been having random data issues. I thought Verizon was supposed to be better than this. I am very pissed. As slow as TMobile was, I never had a single data outage in this area. I like to go outside for breaks and check twitter/fb and my email and then when I get back into my office, I sometimes have to toggle data on/off 3 times before I get 3g... I'll stream something or check twitter.. wait.. wait.. 4g.. UGH

SO FRUSTRATING.

I am never signing a two year contract again.

i dont see how a new sim card will fix this. i put a new one in and the problem is the same.
 
I get the same problem but mostly around my house, but yesterday it was happening on my way back from school as well. I looked a my phone frequently and it was dropping 4g and reconnecting, and repeating the same thing. I was pretty pissed. I don't know why these phones are having data problems 2 months after launch. I think verizon needs to get their act together. Tech support seems to always wanna hard reset your phone.
 
There is no 4G in my area, yet I still have this problem. It must just be the 3G, because I never have a hand off take place.

Airplane Toggle works for me.
 
I'm having this same problem. Created a trouble ticket with Verizon.

For what it's worth...They told me it's related to the 4g outage last week and the problem is on their network, not with the phone.

Very Frustrating!
 
I was having the same issue over the past week too. I thought Juice Defender was causing it, so I disabled that yesterday & never had connectivity issues. If it's not my battery, it's another issue, never a dull moment!
 
i still have those issues, i am just waiting patiently for the update. If that doesnt fix it i am going to ask for a different phone. It sux becaus ei love the phone.

What is verizons policy on this? If they cannot provide service they have to give me a diffferent phone right?
 
I'm also having the same issue, starting yesterday 5/4. :( I've tried everything but reseting the phone back to manufacture. I did the ## 7 number on a different thread also and I had no luck bring back my network. I live in a no 4g area and everything was fine in 3g until yesterday, now I go from 1x to not even seeing the number. Please let me know if you guys find a solution.
