It appears that my data remains active despite the fact that I have data turned off. I wonder if anyone else has run into this problem. Here is what I have done thus far:
1. Turn off data via Notification bar toggle.
2. Verified data off via Settings -> Data usage -> Mobile data in Off position.
3. Turned ON "Restrict background data" via Settings -> Data usage -> MORE -> Restrict Background Data (verified by notification exclamation triangle in notification area).
4. Sync turned off.
5. WiFi turned off.
After all of that I can still open Maps and it will connect, I can open a web browser and it will download web pages, I can open CNN and it will load new articles, etc.
Clearly data has not been turned off.
Has anyone run into this before? I know that a lot of people are going to suggest that I turn on airplane mode, I don't want to do that because I still want to receive phone calls and SMS messages.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance for any insight and/or suggestions!
