Data icon when on WiFi

Just upgraded from the M7 to the M8. Have noticed that the data icon does not go away when on WiFi taking up unnecessary notification space. Anyone else notice this? Any fix for this?

I think this normal.

Yes, the 3g, LTE, etc...

This was not normal on the M7. Data icon went away she in WiFi.

Yeah that's just how it is unfortunately. Even when its just 4g and not LTE, there's still a blank space where the LTE letters would be. Its pretty annoying.

My unlocked version on AT&T does not have these symbols when wifi is active. It only has the bars.

Mine is Sprint. Maybe it a carrier issue.

It is the carrier caller ID app on your phone. If the phone is using the caller ID for function for incoming calls it causes the mobile data icon to stay since it needs mobile data to get this data.

Disabled that feature and it will go away when on wifi.
