Have S9. Bought S20
Did backup first of S9

Followed what is Samsung advice, used SmartSwitch and connected 2 phones with USB cable.

Did ‘send data’ from S9, and it progressed, eventually had the ‘transfer completed message’

None of my Apps seem to have come across, no email, no WhatsApp, no FB, no messenger.
All it seems to have done is bring across contacts & caledar entry.

I contacted Samsung …. They said use SmartSwitch and your phone will have everything transferred, and be ready to pick up and go from where you left off.
Am I missing a step …. Currently non of the previous home screens have been populated as previous phone, none of Apps accounts set up.

You can try the process again and see if it transfer 2nd time , but I usually do transfer Samsung cloud or Smart switch on PC

Also there is a update for Smart Switch in galaxy or play store might want see if that helps .

I gave up …. SmartSwitch only transferred contacts & calendar.
I went to Samsung support …. No help whatsoever.
Reinstalled all manually … Hrs of fun.

Oh, no! That's too bad! I've used Smart Switch once from my mom's S6 Edge to her new S10 and it worked really well. I'm fairly certain all of her apps transferred over. I'm so sorry that that didn't work for you! Technology sometimes! Are you liking your new phone, though?

The fingerprint reader is not as good as S9, often fails to read …. And being on the front means it’s a 2 handed task. So less useful.
Screen is good
