Data transfer tool?

Getting excited for delivery tomorrow! Never used the data transfer tool, as I have always used each new phone as a chance to clean up my apps and such. But how many have used the data transfer tool? Is it painless?

My wife used it to transfer data from her iPhone to Pixel 2. It works pretty well, but I'm like you, I'll set mine up fresh!
On a side note, can that dongle be used to copy files from a flash drive to the Pixel?

I don't think so. I think there has to be an operating system on either side of the tool for it to work. However, all you'd need would be a USB A (female) to USB C to move files from a flash drive to the phone, or you could get a USB C flash drive (they make them now).

I am preparing to transfer from iPhone 7+ to Pixel 3, i would prefer not to transfer but start clean however i would lose all my SMS. Does anyone know if this transfer tool also moves over iMessages or will it only move SMS?

It is an extremely painless experience. I am supremely impressed by the thorough job it does and the simple UI involved in getting the job done.
