Date created not saved when transferring pictures from PC to Samsung S6

I noticed when I copied a large batch of pictures, 10,000+, from my PC to the internal storage of my S6 via a USB cable, the files have a new "date created" date, the new "date created" is the same as the date of the day the files were transferred, instead of the original created date. because of this, all the pictures are in some random order rather than in the order they were taken, sorting is no help as they all have the same date created.

does anyone know of a way to transfer the files and keep the original date create? with my old S5 it was a simple matter of transferring files to the removable SD card which did not overwrite the date created.

When you copy a file, the Modified Date is the date you copied it. (Copying is a modification.) The EXIF date, the date in the picture's metadata, is still the date it was taken. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....xnano.android.photoexifeditor&token=RXYFg-rW will show that date (and I believe there are a few apps that will change the Modified Date of the file to that date - but the phone may have to be rooted for them to work - I don't use them, since I use the EXIF dates for pictures, so I'm not sure.)

A few apps, such as Quickpic, can sort by taken date. Mind you, I don’t like what Quickpic has become. I wish more apps would sort by taken date...

I tried Quickpic and a few other apps, the sorting feature only work on some pictures.

I think the issue is what the S6 does to the files when you copy them to the phone. If you look at this screenshot, I moved a picture to the S6 this morning and it shows the created date as today, but the modified date as the date the picture was taken.0.png

Sort by taken date in Quickpic. Quickpic sorts by the EXIF date stored inside the picture then. Or sort alphabetically if the pictures are all ones taken so that the names sort alphabetically.
