Day 2 on 6T (Note 9 not liking this)

switched my carrier to T-Mobile over the Black Friday promotions and got a free line and a free 6T.

Never owned a OnePlus before but current phone is Note 9. Previous phones I owned, Note 8, S8+, S7 Edge, Pixel 2 XL (the most recent).

Have been using the phone for 2 days and I am impressed enough to move my main SIM to it and make it my daily driver.

Let me put it this way and very simple. This phone making me feel like a fool for paying $1000 + for Note 9.

Now, I love the Note series, but the Note 9 is double the price of a 6T. This is just PURE NUTS.

I'll be using the 6T for the next few weeks. If I am able to live without my Note 9, it will be the start of OnePlus journey for me. I would love to not waste my hard earned money on flagship expensive phones and OnePlus seems to be the saver.

Very impressed. This thing is such a joy to use!

The only way you can like this over note series is if you don't use Spen, Samsung pay, Camera (especially dual camera which is awesome when on trips with family), WQHD, Wireless charging, stereo speakers, headphone jack, SECURE Iris unlock are some of the things I can think of. Yes, for people who use all the above Note/Galaxy series is non replaceable.

6T camera is not an joke. Fine with that.

The only other 2 things that are a big deal for me is spen and Samsung pay. Use them a lot.

I made my 6T my daily driver to figure out if they are $450 important. That's the difference in price between what Note 9 costs and 6T.

That's a long list of crap i don't care about... And the headphone jack, which I honestly don't use anymore anyway.

Was thinking I might get a Samsung phone next year... You've definitely given me pause for thought...

Well, if you have $1000+ that you are happy to part with. In other words, if money is not an issue for you, you probably should still get your Samsung flagship. In short, I am fed up with expensive phones. So this is my experiment to cut the cord with that $1000+ phone BS. OnePlus seems to be a solid alternative for $450 cheaper (that comes with a case and screen protector).

I will do a full review as a Note user for years. Again, 6T is not going to be a BETTER phone than my Note 9, but the question is, would it win me over because it is still a beast of a phone but for $450 less. So far, that is a very possible scenario. I need few weeks with 6T as daily driver to know for sure.

unless you are totally addicted to the SPen, there isnt anything critical missing on the 6T; sure, I'd like wireless charging, but, the battery blows away anything from samsung, so you get a full day on the 6T with no problem, the screen is great, who cares about stereo speakers on a cell phone anymore, headphone jack is a non issue since you get an adapter in the box with the 6T, dont even know why anyone would care about a secure Iris lock, unless you are a secret agent or a criminal, and, of course, you SAVE 450 bucks, actually more when you throw in the screen protector and case, both included for free..
Oh, and dont forget, NO SAMSUNG BLOAT!!
and, BTW, if you are into customizing your phone, you can actually ROOT the 6T; try that with your TMO Samsung phone..
Dumped my Note 8 for this thing, and couldnt be happier..

Look, I haven't owned a Samsung phone since the ATT Captivate (ATT's Galaxy S1 variant) and the Samsung Focus S.

But I'm not paying $1,000 for a phone that is only marginally better than a $550 phone.
That's just a bit ridiculous, unless you've got specific needs - or - you can afford it and having the cutting edge of mobile technology is your thing. Which is cool. Go for it.

But the camera and SPen on the Note 9 do not provide and additional $450 value over the 1+ 6T, in my opinion.

The only feature Samsung Pay has that I would like, is the ability to work with the card readers that only allow payment through sliding the magnetic strip

Pretty soon, that won't matter

Yep. With the way they are forcing the chip readers on everyone it won't be long before all cards have chips in them.

I got the 6T a couple weeks ago instead of the pixel 3 to replace my Pixel 2. The camera gets better the more I use it. There are so many things in the software that enhance the experience over the pixel and every other phone I've used over the last few years. I looked at the Pixel 3, note 9, V40, and when it came down to it none of them could match the value of the 6T and they all had things I just didn't need and in the end the bells and whistles didn't justify the extra cost and compromises for me. I think you are going to find you made a great choice like I did.

This thing has the best battery life of any Android phone I've ever used.

I damn near pulled the trigger on an OnePlus 6T last night. My S9 battery is just pathetic. Today in 21 minutes of use it's tanked down 9%.

What is holding you back? If battery life is what is important to you, from my own experience, 6T is the best phone in the market when it comes to that. You will get a full day of use NO MATTER how much you abuse it.

I have years of experience with Samsung phones. Let me know if I can help. Still have Note 9. And in the past, I have used Note 8, S8 Plus, S7 Edge, Note 5, Note 4, and S3.

Not held back anymore. This morning I pulled the trigger.

What's holding me back was I just for this S9 earlier this year. I didn't want to waste the money on the S9. I can sell it because it's in perfect condition and I have all the accessories.

Also the camera in the reviews aren't as good as the Samsung. But I have to wonder how that's like in real life. I'm just a regular old picture taker. Sure I want them to look good. But I don't have the eye for capturing any fancy smancy pic. The portrait/selective focus/what ever it's called is a nice feature on the phones I've had. iPhones and Galaxy S9. How do you like the camera on the OnePlus vs the Note? Any real world differences for a non professional and or not that darn picky regular old Joe?
