Day night difference with fingerprint

Okay I think I bought this go long enough with my very unscientific observations to suggest that during the daytime the fingerprint reader works relatively well however in the evening or at night, it's absolutely horrible. I've done this enough now to definitely notice this pattern. Anyone else?

I've experienced issues with the reader not working. (Registering my touch) but never with the reader working better in certain light

I've never had fingerprint issues with my P7P reader since launch.

This actually makes sense being that Google cheaped out and went for an optical sensor.

It's basically acamera and needs light in order to function.

Ultrasonic.

There's also capacitive, but you can't put that under a display.

Do the Pixel 6 and 7 have the exact same fingerprint reader?

I used to have issues with fingerprint reading then read somewhere to resave the finger you use most often (right thumb for me) two extra times as additional fingers.

This greatly improved speed and first time capture on my reader.
