DCMProvider. ????

This process is killing my battery and I can't find any info on it. Please help if you know what this is and how to get rid of it. Battery life is averaging 4-5 hours with this utilizing more than 70%,

if you are having the same problem as me it is not the dcm provider. its actually samsung link causing the media process to run. the media process runs for both. i thought it was dcm at first but turned out to be samsung link. try it.

I cant find Link at all, but the battery use screen says DCMProvider, 12% left after 3.5 hours, and DCMProvider has used 67% of battery

Did anyone find an answer on this one. I have disabled the Samsung Link Provider, but the DCMProvider is still hogging the battery power on my Samsung Galaxy 5???

Same for me. Never heard back from anyone as to why the GS5 was so bad on battery life so I returned it. Now have an M8 that lasts for day and half, and I am liking it much better for things other than just the amazing battery life. Saved some money by returning the Samsung Gear as well. Wish it worked with other devices though. Maybe someone will figure out the GS5 and make it possible to get more than 4 hours battery. Till then, I am about done with Samsung. Too many bad experiences. Sold my Note 3 because it had no GPS, even after update. Galaxy S4 was extremely choppy and ridiculously slow with interaction in email and texts. HTC seems to be the best device out there, if only I could get my hands on an Xperia Z2.

I had to disable it in Apps...

Settings - Apps - All - Stop it - Clean data

It is a App that is used to comunicate with other devices eg smart TV's samsung link uses it and Youtube
so check to see if you have a samsung smart tv connected i closed this down and Slink will not work

It's hard to find anything about it, but from what I can gather, it has to do with wi-fi, as mentioned in a couple of the previous posts. I found this little nugget in a firmware FAQ from Actiontec, which makes Screenbeam, a wireless display:

(Q) What is DCM?
(A) DCM stands for Different Channel Mode. DCM is a function of the wireless network adapter and its driver. It enables the system's wireless adapter to simultaneously operate multiple connections on different wireless channels, and supports applications such as Wi-Fi infrastructure and Wi-Fi Direct.

However, this doesn't mean that I know for sure why DCM Provider is stopping. I'd suggest a cache partition wipe to start with, which won't erase any personal data.

It´s an error on the download booster function. You need only to disable this function. It works for me. My battery is safe!!!!!!!! And I hope it works for you too.
