Dead Pixels?

Hi everyone. I've been lurking on here since I got my fascinate less than a month ago, but this is my first post.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem I am with dead pixels. There is a small streak (a couple centimeters) on the far left side of the screen about a quarter of the way down that appear to be dead (or at least partially dead). I'm wondering if I just got unlucky here or if anyone else is having this problem.

I'm still in my 30 days so I might try to take it back to best buy mobile and exchange it.

Can you download the app "Shoot Me" from the marketplace, and run it? Then shake the phone a little to take the screen shot. I'd like to see what you're talking about here.

Shows how new I am to the droid scene... I never even considered there would be apps for this type of thing.

Anyway, I downloaded them both and ran the checkmypixels app and the dead pixels were clear across all colors except black.

So I ran the Jscreen as well for 10 minutes and no dice. It's definitely still there.

I do have it rooted, does anyone think that will be a problem when I try to take it back?

I actually already tried that and it didn't show up on the picture it took. Very odd, but the white background was clean all the way through the affected area.

It will not show on the picture you took with ShootMe because it takes a picture digitally of what is processed to display on the screen :) The pixel is a physical occurance.

Kinda like looking at a picture of a mirror and not seeing your reflection...

But anyways, depends. Do you have any special boot loaders? Clockworkmod or boot screens? Is all that stock?

If it is then you will not have a problem returning it. You could always un root first. I took my fascinate back rooted, all I did was do the bing removal work around and remove bloatware by renaming their apks. They didnt ask any questions.

Yep, just like you all I've done is disable some bloatware and changed Bing. I'll be taking it back tomorrow for a new one.

Thanks again for your assistance.

yea, they don't really care if it's rooted, especially if your problem is a physical one such as a dead pixel.

if your phone was having software issues, and you gave it to them rooted, i'm sure they'd make you go through extra steps stating that the root was the issue or something
