I need some help on deciding on a new phone. I am due for an upgrade and am looking to choose the phone with the best performance. My carrier is Verizon and thus I have primarily four options. The Nexus Prime, Motorola RAZR, iPhone 4s, and the HTC Rezound.

Unfortunately after watching the two announcements I am disappointed in the Nexus even though it out performs the RAZR. I am a fan of MicroSD cards and for some reason Nexus comes unequipped. Though, the "gorgeous" screen is a nice aspect, the camera lies within 5mp vs the iPhone and Razr's 8mp. Obviously ICS is an advantage over both the Rezound and RAZR. The RAZR also has some nice features that caught my attention. The non scratch screen and chrome-like backing along with the extremely sleek design. But my main concern is performance, which I lack knowledge in to a high extent. All I can do is read numbers and The Prime maxes at 1.2ghz dc as well as the RAZR both sporting 1g of RAM. I have no idea how the Rezound or iPhone 4s compare to these and would greatly appreciate some suggestions and device on which device to purchase.

Thank you in advance.

Hopefully without sounding too terribly cliche, the best way to go is to hold each device in your hand and make a decision based on your likes, wants and needs.

All the phones will be fast. That much is not in doubt. All have dual-core; all will have 1GB of RAM. It's become the industry standard.

All the phones have beautiful screens. I would probably give the edge to the G-Nex, Rezound and then the 4s based on resolution (1280x720 HD for both the Nex and Rez) and ppi.

What will really set each device apart will be how it connects to the network (4s is NOT 4G) and how you like the OS (skinned, vanilla in the case of ICS on the G-Nex, or iOS).

Personally, I'm in love with Sense and I feel like HTC has listened to the consumers and trimmed some of the fat off of Sense 3.0. Plus, the Rezound will definitely be in line (possibly before even the Bionic and the RAZR to get ICS since the screen resolution is the same as the G-Nex and ICS is optimized for the 1280x720 resolution screen). However, the battery life is always in doubt when referring to an HTC phone.

But that's me. You might like vanilla Android and ICS looks like it'll be an awesome base OS. I don't like Moto's skin overlay, but the RAZR is incredibly thin, sleek, and sexy. The iPhone is...well, the iPhone. It does a lot of things really well, and others where it is still lagging behind Android's ecosystem.

All of these phones have great qualities and others that won't be so good. You'll just have to choose the phone that gives you the most out of what you want.

I like HTC as well but do you know if the Rezound will have NFC ? If not I'm seriously thinking about waiting til HTC makes a dang device on vzw that has it.

I'm in the exact same boat as you and this is what I'm going to do. I am going to buy an iphone 4s and I'm not a fanboy for anyone I love all OS's and I wanted to try something different but I also didn't want to leave android so I'm going to buy a nexus s and since they get updates quick ill still be in the loop and ill just use that as my ipodish.

All great devices.

One point about the original post...

Don't get too caught up about megapixels of the camera. MPs are simply an indicator of how big the picture will be, whether on your computer screen or printed out. MPs, in and of themselves, have no correlation to the quality of the picture itself. The quality of the picture is determined by the lens, sensor, and all of the other "guts" of the camera. 5 MPs will be plenty big enough to fill your screen or to be an 8x10 inch print.

So far, not that I've heard and I've been following the Vigor since the days of it's first pic on the web. There's been no mention of NFC anywhere.

For me, that's not a deal breaker. While NFC is definitely pretty cool, the only reasons I'd ever have to use it would be for Google Wallet and getting a girl's number from her phone without doing the "call me so I can get your number" deal. So far that method works just fine and there's no need for NFC. LOL

If you keep waiting for the perfect device you're sure to be disappointed over and over again until you throw your current phone against the wall and then tie it to a tree and whip out the paintball gun for kicks. Understand that not every phone will have the exact specs you want. OEM's can't give you the perfect superphone b/c then what would you buy? They have to make sure you come back and buy their product.
