Android Central Question

I listen to soundbooks, an have an app from the book supplier (Storytel). If I close all apps and go sit in my car, the phone connects to my phone via Bluetooth. When pressing Play (car button) the music app on the phone is started. I then have to open the phone, find the book app and press play on the phone to start listening to the book. I can not find out how to make Storytel the default app. In setting, default apps, there is no option for media player. In the app itself, there is no option for making it default. Anyone?

Just som additional info. When closing all apps, my storytel app are still present when pulling down from top to see notifications. Still, musik app is started when Bluetooth connection is made, not the storytel app

Welcome to Android Central.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to make it your default. Not like one would think it could be. Usually for me if my POD cast app was the last thing I was listening to I can just press play and it will start playing. If I was watching YouTube or anything else, like you, when I press play nothing happens. I've only ever had one app that auto resumed when connected to my car and that app had an option to do that built into it.

One possible work-a-round for you might be something like Bluetooth Audio Widget app. It allows you to set up different default actions, including opening and resuming an audio, when the phone is connected to a Bluetooth device. It's free at the Play Store.

Once the Storytel app is playing on the car radio does the car Pause/Play that app? I think that is the best you can hope for. I know some people have problems with other media apps such as Spotify not giving up media play control when they should. Have you tried Force Stopping the music app that is getting in the way?

(I had a problem with my go to music player app Smart Audiobook Player not yielding play control when trying to use my podcatcher app - Found that using the explicit Exit function in SABP fixed that rather than just swiping it to close)

Than you for answers. Yes, the car can control the Storytel app. I will try force stop of musik app. If that does not work, I will install the Bluetooth app.
