Is there a way to update the default music app, if so how and next question is there a way to update the album cover art in the default music app

By default music app, I'm guessing you mean Samsung's music player, and not Google Play Music, correct? These kinds of preinstalled apps from the manufacturer typically only get updated (if at all) via system updates. Unless you totally love the Samsung music player, you're probably better off trying one of the many 3rd party music players available in the Play Store.

Album Art Grabber should allow you to update the album cover art.
