I accidentally clicked "always" when downloading a file and now it is trying to print every time I download something and won't let me just download files. How can I reverse this?

Which phone, and which app did you use to download the file?

You could always do the Reset App Preferences option in the system settings (do a search for it), but this will reset preferences for all apps, not just the one.

It's a samsung galaxy s24 and I was downloading from chrome. I did go into my settings and clear my defaults because that's the only option I can find on Google and that did not work.

Welcome to Android Central forums. Looks like you've been a member for a while but haven't posted much. Anyway, to better assess this and provide he best advice I have just a few questions.

When you say you went into your settings and reset your defaults, will you please describe your method in detail?

You say that when you attempt to download files in Chrome your device attempts to or wants to print instead, does it matter what type of file it is, or any and all files are pushed to this print option? What file type or extension was the file you downloaded and printed that started all of this? You don't need mention the name just the type of file, pdf, exl, doc...?

Is the print option a different app? Let's say you try to download something, when complete or when it starts, another app, like Epson Print, opens and tries to display your file for printing, or is this something that happens in the Chrome app?

Without knowing the method that got you to this point I will assume for the moment that this opens a different app. It opens, iPrint, or Epson Print, when you say download this file. To clear this default you would open Settings>Apps>navigate to the app that is opening, not Chrome, and tap that app>Set as default>clear this app from anywhere it is set as the default app to complete a task. Exit settings and test.

Let us know your method both how you started this, so that we can test solutions, and your method for "resetting the defaults", and answer the other questions if you would, if this advice didn't help so we can work through it with you. Let us know what you find.

To clarify
You went into phones settings menu >apps>3 dots upper right corner tap and reset the app preference there?
No I had not done that. I "cleared" the defaults app and I just looked to see how I did it and I cant remember but I'm trying what you said now
