In another post, the Verizon Droid Turbo is getting Lollipop 5.1, bypassing other Lollipop versions. Why? Because of Verizon VoLTE requires Lollipop 5.1. My LG G3 is on Verizon's network with VoLTE, so It's my understanding the update should come fairly soon.

So I've read the article the OP mentioned about VoLTE. Apparently the update for advanced calling 1.0 that was pushed out was needed for the service. The push on the Turbo to 5.1 simply mentions that by 5.1 having the HD calling feature embedded in it, there would be less of a chance of having issues compared to 5.0 that doesn't have it embedded but works because of the advanced calling update. Would make sense. Either way, I don't want an update if the issues reported by others remain.

Agreed. I travel a lot so I like the coverage. I'm on unlimited still with 3 lines. But hate the BS about updates and how much they charge. In this case however. I would rather have a stable update a few weeks later.
