Delayed contact info on incoming call?

Does anyone else have the issue on their Droid, when you receive a call it takes a few seconds for the contact picture and/or name to show up? Normally the phone number of the person calling will show up immediatley but it takes about 3 seconds for the rest of the info to show up. I figure this is probably some delay accessing my sync'd contacts from my gmail account but I don't know for sure.

I tried using both default dialer and also using Dialer One from the market and either way is the same. Anybody seen this before or know anything else about it?

Thanks!!

Happens to me often enough. I don't know why, but I have noticed that rebooting the phone seems to help.

I even went as far as changing to a default ring tone to see if that helped but nope. That's one of the things that just drives me nuts cuz I can't fix it.

you either have too many apps running or too many installed on your phone. i had this same problem, and removed many of the applications i didn't use...and voila, problem solved. Remember, the Droid is a phone with a brain...not a supercomputer

Is there such a thing as too many apps on a phone designed to run apps? If I check my running applications there are 5 of them at the time besides any background processes so it's not overtaxing that I can tell.

In any event I was thinking the same thing as you, too many processes running in the background or something. However that theory didn't hold up so well when I had to reset back to factory and found the problem still persisting. Since then I tried the things I mentioned about but still seems to have the problem. The phone will ring right away and it will show incoming call with the number but won't show the name or picture right away.

I have been having this same problem. and on top of that My Droid is not playing my ringtone or any sound at all when i receive a call. Yes volume is one, yes i have a ringtone set, yes it works. I just cant place why this is happening. if i receive a call, i want to know that i'm being called in some other manor than my screen turning on. any suggestions? i've deleted a ton of apps. and still no help.

yup! been happening to me lately. it'll be a few seconds before it even rings too. I will usually have some things running in the background (helix, handcent, and touiteur) but this didn't start happening until a few weeks ago and i've had almost all of these apps since I've had the phone

Me too

This has been happening to me for a few weeks, too. It shows the phone number immediately, plays the assigned ringtone, but no pic/name til a few seconds later.

ditto

I've been having the same problem on my Nexus One pretty much since I got it.

Found this thread when I was researching my blog post complaining about this since it just happened, again (apparently too new to link here, but it's nexusonederful.altervista.org if anyone's curious).

Uninstalling "Missed Call" seemed to help me, but hopefully the Froyo update will make this a thing of the past.

I just got a replacement Droid this past Friday, I had all my apps backed up on my SD Card via Astro. I restored them all once I got my replacement, with the exception of dialer one. I love that dialer app but I figure it was worth a try going back to stock dialer to see if that helps. I did help alittle bit, but the problem still exists on the incoming calls. So yeah Im guessing it's just an android quirk based on the processor speed and perhaps when Froyo comes out that will help.
