delete key on Samsung A5 deletes single letter instead of word

Recently upgraded my operating system and now the delete function works differently. In the old OS, if I pressed the delete key, it would delete the entire word; now it only deletes one letter at a time. This is frustrating and is time consuming to constantly delete one letter at time. Is there a way to restore the "Delete a word" function?

Have you tried holding the delete button? If I tap the delete button I get one letter at a time if I hold it I get words and if I continue to hold I get words faster and faster.
