Deleting multiple callers in call logs

I've just upgraded to a Pixel 2 from a Samsung A5 which I've had for a year or so, and on the Samsung it was possible to delete multiple or individual calls from the call log by simply holding one, then adding a check to all the others I want to delete, then delete all selected in one go. I've not managed to find this on my Pixel 2, is it possible?

Cheers.

The only option that I know of, is to go into Call history, and clear all.

Yeah, that would be fine for deleting everything, but I only delete calls after I've actioned them. Anything outstanding I leave til I've completed the job, which means I spend ages deleting the individual calls when I used to spend a few seconds. Seems a bit backwards to me, but...:-

Welcome to 'Pure' Android. This is operating the way that Google envisioned it, but as you've seen on the phone that you came from other OEMs often add useful features in their 'skinned' version of Android.
Your best bet would be to look for a 3rd party application that can manage the call log in the way that works best for you. There are a bazillion in the Google Play Store; one example is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pa.calllog.tracker

Yet they envisioned this very functionality for text messages, but decided it was pointless for calls?

I already tried a few 3rd party applications, some of which simply didn't work (as in didn't actually delete the calls I selected) while thrusting adverts in my face making it an exercise in avoidance of unwanted crap. I've found one which functions more or less as I want, but it's still nowhere near as user friendly as it should be. If that's as good as it gets then I'll pay to remove the ads.

I'd have to guess that you're in the minority here - although I often delete an individual message thread, or several at a time, I've never had occasion to delete individual/multiple items from my call log - I just delete the whole list on random occasions.
It sounds like you should really be running a CRM application to track your work flow, so perhaps your efforts would be best spent investing in software that's intended for that purpose?

You can guess I suppose, but it's simply a guess. I manage my work flow quite nicely by using my calls list (self employed emergency call out engineer) so when I've actioned a call (spoken to customer, closed the call, done the job etc.) and it no longer needs to be in my caller list, I delete that call along with others I've actioned. Deleting the complete caller list would mean I lose all the calls in one go, and either I need to transfer the call list to (as you suggest) another system or spend time deleting them one after another.

Just because one person uses a phone in a different way to another, doesn't mean either is right (or wrong). If you're happy deleting all your calls list in one go then fine, but that doesn't help someone like me who has a different need.

Perhaps I'll just go back to Samsung and let my daughter have the Pixel.
