Deleting old emails

I recently d/l'd the new system update from Verizon for Android. Prior to the download, I only had current emails showing on the phone. Now, I have over 100 emails dating a year ago showing in my emails on the phone. Every time I delete them, they come right back. How do I get rid of the old emails?

I would love to no the answer to this also. Since jb my phone wont allow any less than 100 emails in the box , you delete them all and they instantly come right back . Anyone ?
