Deleting Samsung Account from my Note 4

I'm in the process of updating the email addresses used for all my online accounts and found out that it is not possible to update the email ID used with my Samsung Account. Apparently, I will need to remove the account from my phone, delete the online account then create a new account online and add the details to my phone.

That all seems straight forward enough.

However, when going through the process to remove the account on my phone, i'm faced with a severe looking notification telling me:
Removing the account will delete all of its messages, contacts and other data from the device.

Seeing as Calendar, Contacts, Internet and S Note are all synced, I'd be a little gutted if I lose this info from my phone.

So, is this just a generic warning that would apply to removing any account from the phone or will I lose all of the above if I choose to remove the account?

Thanks for any help :)

I would believe that it is true. I would not proceed without backing up all of these things elsewhere first. I accidentally deleted all of my Google info once. Not pretty.

Have you tried accessing your Samsung account from the web instead of mobile? Out of curiosity I pulled up samsung's website on my computer. I logged in with the same login info I used for my Sammy account on my phone and it worked. Once you're logged in, go to My Account/My Account Info and you'll see all of the info that you can change or update.....including your email.

Not gonna lie....I did not try this to see what happens next. But maybe by changing your email on their website, it will hopefully sync that up with your phone....hopefully.

And if that doesn't work, you could also try calling Samsung customer service. Maybe they've got the ability to update that info for you without losing any of your data. Couldn't hurt to try, right?

Thanks for the reply Brew Swayne.

That was the first place I checked and although I can change my name, password, home address, date of birth from my account, I'm unable to change the email address. I contacted Samsung support and asked them to do it for me but they advised that the email ID/login cannot be changed after setting up the account so the only options are the keep using the account, even though I no longer have access to that email address or set up another one.

Edit: Thought I'd just try logging onto MySamsung via the US website and there is indeed an option to change my email address there. It's certainly not an option on the UK site. Will give it a go and report back.
