Desire Radio not working

The FM radio on my Desire was working fine for months and then stopped. It will start up but just get static. Cannot find any stations. Headset is connected. HTC say I should reset to factory defaults but I have not got the time to try to set the whole shooting match up again. Backup options are poor without rooting it which will void my warranty. Has anyone else had this issue. Any suggested remedies. TIA. David

Have you tried a different headset?

FM Radio

The headset is the original and works as expected with phone. When I disconnect it the radio shuts down. However, I have now tried another headset and still just get static. Appreciate the suggestion.
