Hey,

Has anyone managed to get the full suite of desktop apps for the transformer.

Asus thought it would be a good idea to not allow you directly access to the download of the installer for the app(s) but makes you download a downloader that will fetch the files from their servers. Now this is a little bit annoying in most cases, but i can roll with it, but when that small application that only downloads files and then runs an installer doesn't work then that becomes VERY annoying because of the fact that it wouldn't happen if we had direct access to the download.

I have a problem, i download the downloader and then open it, it then tells me there was an internet connection error and stops. So i checked the internet connections and it was working fine. so i click start again and it says "preparing" but as we all know, in a poorly developed app, "preparing" means "Not working, but i don't really want to tell you that". Then finally i go to close the application and BOOM Unhanded exception, some sort of null pointer i think.

So anyway, sorry to rant but that i one of the things that annoy me.

Has anyone managed to get it all? does anyone know of alt download links? And what does everyone think of the apps themselves?

Yep I sure am. I tried downloading the 32 bit version butnno matter what is or architecture it seemsnto be the same file.

Sure is strange that we're the only ones responding in this thread. The desktop suite sounds like a really interesting app.

I don't have my transformer yet (just the dock), but I do run Windows 7 64bit..so I'm hoping this issue is resolved shortly. :\

yeah that installs fine and i've got remote desktop working. But the download from asus should have the MyDesktop, Asus Webstorage cloud computing hard drive, and ASUS sync tool. I've got the sync tool and i've got the desktop thing, how do i get the webstorage thing?

Thanks for the help buddy.

It's looking that way to me, too. Big letdown when I found that out.

Ok, let?s assume that? ?hypothetically of course? ?some of us got a little caught up with the heady notion of an IPS display, attachable keyboard, 16hr batt life, etc. etc. and jumped on this without fully educating themselves on some of these extras that were added by ASUS [-raises hand-]

Now, could someone give a rundown of the added programming/features that the TF is supposed to support?

I'm sorry i dont understand the question? The programming?

The MyLibrary, MyNet and MyCloud stuff.

All I see on the ASUS site are a couple of sentences saying they do everything effortlessly. I was wondering if people could give an impression of what they really do in real life.

Ahh i see.

On the Transformer, the MyDesktop allows you to remotely control your desktop PC through you Transformer device. But as we have been discussing, it seems it can only be done when your on the same network.

MyLibrary seems to be a ebook reader

And myNet Allows you to set up sharing over a network, it lists different files like movies, music and pictures. It allows you to connect to another device on the network and look through the files they are sharing. It can also work as a media server, so you can stream data to a copmuter or device from the transformer.

MyCloud is basically a client used to sync with the cloud storage.

Hope that helps

Nope, it doesn't have to be on the same local network. The service that they use has a FAQ detailing how to use it when not on the local network. Deals with having the exact IP address of your internet connection, and port forwarding on your router. Works pretty well.

Gotcha. So next question, how is it any different than a general purpose VNC app?

I?ve already got TightVNC running on my basement server for access with my existing laptop, does the ASUS setup require a different server app running to connect to it? Would prefer to keep these parasitic services to a minimum.
