I picked up my Galaxy Gear today and I must say that I really like it.

The watch is stylish. The display is beautiful. The touchscreen is very responsive. The convenience is being more and more realized with time.

I am actually using my tablet more since I have no need to constantly check or listen for my phone for notifications. I placed my phone on the charger in the bedroom and went about my business in the house with no problems.

Sat down to eat with family, watched a movie in our media room, and had no reason to have my phone by my side constantly checking for text, emails or phone calls.

The device is very comfortable on the wrist, and easy to set up.

In my world this device is well worth the $300.

That's great to hear about your positive experience with the device. It's not something I'd be interested in right now. However, the concept of wearable devices that tie into our daily lives is a great idea.

Thanks for sharing your experience with it!

I can't wait to get mine. Since you mentioned you left your phone in another room... how far is the Bluetooth range?

I was curious as well, how far BT 4.0 LE can go, I thought it was a much farther distance than the old 30FT we are used to. Still mullling this over, T-Mobile has that promo of 30% off making it $209 plus tax and shipping but I just can't seem to pull the trigger . . . yet.

I was able to pace off 1000 ft. before I was notified, via a vibration from on the Gear, that "bluetooth has been disconnected." At that distance away from the phone I was able to make a phone call, and had an email notification come in.

This was no scientific test, and I was just pacing off the distance in my office area. I suspect the distance would vary depending on the building or other interference. Nonetheless, this was pretty good. If for no other reason my Gear would always warn me when, and if, I ever left my phone somewhere.

WOW! That is pretty impressive and at that distance I would always be in range of my phone otherwise it would be with me on the go.

Interesting. Mine is buzzing "disconnected" after anything more than about 10 feet, even less.

I have noticed that the range varies greatly. In my office it seems to get great range, but in other places the range is not so good. After playing with it now for about 3 days I would say that my average outside of my office area is about 200 ft.
