So I'm one of the few that prefers the more natural "muted" display colors that comes from using sRGB mode. On my Nexus 6p I would activate this mode inside developer options.
I've recently upgraded to the Note 8 and read that the "basic" color mode inside the display settings is equivalent to sRGB. However, after activating developer options on the Note 8 I was pleased to see the toggle for sRGB mode just like my 6p had (and indeed, my Note 7 before it). When activated the colors are muted even more. It's a slight difference from basic but one that I can easily distinguish.
The main point of this post is that the sRGB mode won't stay toggled. Now on my 6p this setting would reset itself after every restart. So I was used to that, no big deal. But on this device it's resetting randomly on its own even without restarting. Again not a huge difference in color but I notice it and I simply prefer sRGB as it is displayed when toggled in developer options.
Secondary point is, I can only conclude Samsung's basic color mode is not truly sRGB as had been mentioned in reviews and perhaps in Samsung's own documentation, I don't remember.
Any suggestions on getting this mode to stick? Again I accept that it resets itself on restart but would like for it to stick otherwise.
