Device used by the mainstream masses = more dumb questions?

Hello all,

I haven't posted much on these forums or on the Precentral forums. However, I have been trolling these forums (and the Pre forums) pretty hard in the last year.

This sounds like a rather logical conclusion, but I wonder, does anyone else notice a correlation between niche devices (like the Pre when it came out) and mostly geeks that own them, versus devices that have better mainstream appeal... and the types of questions that these two groups would ask?

Anyway, it seems to me that iphone or blackberry forums tend to have dumber questions, and forums for niche devices like the G1 or the Pre... those communities tend to have less inane questions.

Thoughts?

Are you sure you went to Precentral.net? Take another gander over there. Lots of pointless posts there. No one willing to help either. Lots of *** and ****. I'm so glad I'm not part of that anymore.

This is an awesome forum. No question is a dumb question when you're trying to get the most out of your device. I love it here.

If you think the questions are dumb here you should read the forums on the Verizon Website. I feel bad for some of those customer service reps in their call centers.

I found a lot of helpful information on the Crackberry forums when I first made the move to BB from the Treo. Yeah there is a lot of stuff that people post just to get attention but I found it to be within reason. For all the helpful threads I read I would have to wade through a few bad ones. So far I am liking this place. Good info and I haven't seen anyone post anything too ridiculous.
