Folks,

Ok so I'm using my DeX today at my office, and decided to watch a TV show I had downloaded on it on my 27 inch monitor. Well then I discovered that the sound comes out of the tiny bottom firing Note 8 speaker. Ok easy fix I'll plug my computer's sound bar in to the phone. Can't use the jack on the phone because it's blocked while in the DeX, BUT the unit must have a jack right? WRONG! Sigh! Guess I can TRY Bluetooth to my Amazon Tap, or maybe get some Bluetooth headphones, but come on! How easy would it have been for them to put a jack for sound!

Sound comes through HDMI. I have my speakers connected to my monitor's external sound output, then you just choose "Display Device" for "Audio Output" in the lower right of the Dex desktop.

Thanks guys! I will try that. :)

Can confirm that sound comes through the HDMI. You might have to use the little up arrow in the toolbar and select the Audio Output mode.

Otherwise, a USB-C extender might work for those with case and audio issues? Defeats the purpose of the built in fan and would look horrible.

Maybe the Dex knows that the phone is in the cradle?
Possible that Dex disables the audio jack?
Could be that your phone would overheat and burn the office down?

I know Samsung is especially sensitive about overheating devices. ;)

Good luck!
