Dialer keypad and Contacts issue

Im running s4 with 4.2. Is there anyway to pull up someones full contact card(to make edits) from the keypad dialer. When i start to type a number in a contact will appear in the quick contacts if the number is recognized but there's no way to pull it that persons contact from that screen. I have to press the menu key, "send a message", then click on the persons contact picture from the messaging app to get to the Contact card.
