I finally got android 5.1.1 yesterday. Ended up having to take my note 4 to Beat Buy to get it done. For those of you that have had it for awhile, did it help yoir battery life? Did you do a factory reset?
My battery doesn't seem to be a my better. Worse if anything. I haven't done a factory reset. Trying to avoid doing one if it's not going to make a difference.

Most of the time these updates should either improve or at least keep the same battery life you used to have. I don't have the Note 4 anymore and I think the last update I got was to 5.0.1, and that brought my battery down the drain...until I did a factory reset. Then it was pretty much the same, maaaaybe a little better on standby.

If you notice any drastic changes, you can always try to clear cache first before the factory reset. But it's usually advisable to do a factory reset after a major update.

Was this even considered a major update? I haven't noticed any difference.

If you jumped from 5.0.1 to 5.1 it's not major, but significant. Most of the changes are background stuff and security enhancements, and that's where things can get mixed. When you jump from, say, 4 to 5, then it's major.
