Did a photo shoot comparison between Pixel 3XL and Note 9

I also felt the same. Often I find the Pixel looks a bit to processed although remarkable at the same time. I can't find any faults that rise to me wishing I kept my Pixel or XS. I haven't loved a phone this much in a long time.

Pixel photos tend to be over processed and a bit fake looking, they push the HDR too far in my opinion. It's not a bad look, rather popular for social media as well.

I have the Google Pixel 3 camera software ported to my Note 9. The Night Sight option is a great addition. I find the Pixel is better for shots where the subject is moving where the Note has a tendency to exhibit blur especially in indoor or low light conditions but in other circumstances you would be hard pressed to notice much of a difference.

If the Pixel 3 port would let you use both apertures I'd never use the stock software again. Everything is better with the Pixel software.

I use to think the s9+/note 9 took the best night photos until pixel 3 xl nightshot , pixel 3 xl also has sharper more true to life colors , note 9 not going to beat it but can match it in some situations but everyday consistent shot pixel 3 xl no questions about it .

The thing is it's pretty close between the two but with the Pixel you lose zoom which is a buzz kill for me. Night Site produces some crazy awesome photos and I'm sad I don't have that anymore and I do love that selfie wide angle.

I think they all lose zoom in any phone , what do you think about video between the 2 of them ? I think note 9 is better.

Arnova has one working pretty well - he's still putzing with it but it's working almost 100%!

...and a good settings file (from Johnny Cakes1) to use if you don't want to mess with it yourself!

Any background info on tweaking it yourself? Where can I go for the source of it to see more info? I installed it but it doesn't work, nothing shows in the viewfinder so it must need some other setting up.

Found it:

No idea what setting I missed as the config file made it work, I set it up manually just like I did the first version. Time to test.

EDIT: Ugh, none of the normal pictures are apparently saving anywhere. Portrait mode photos save, but regular ones are nowhere to be found.

I think the video is significantly better on the Note. Smoother, better color and substantially better audio. My Pixel 3 sounded like the tin cans on a string whenever I played it back. Lol

Restart your phone.

There was always a white haze on my Note 9 photos when I had the Note 9. I don't have that on the Pixel photos.

In my own amateur-smartphone-photographer opinion, I think most smartphones out there can take fantastic photos. The Note 9 and the Pixel 3 line are probably on par with one another in the "superb photo-taking cameras" realm. :)

Yeah you had a faulty piece of hardware. Neither of my two Note 9's ever had what you described. I like my Note 9 more than my Pixel 3 but it's for personal preferences. I love both and will gladly recommend either if still photography is a huge deal. Video I then say Note.
