Did Android Wear 1.4 break Messenger on S2?

I picked up an Urbane 2nd edition lte yesterday, so upgraded AW to 1.4 to support the new speaker functionality built into AW. Now I've noticed that I can no longer reply to Google Messenger notifications on my S2. It says "check your phone". And the "read more" option is gone. Handcent still works, but not Messenger. Problem is that Urbane 2nd edition requires you to use Messenger, so I'm having to switch back and forth.

At any rate, there was a new Messenger update on November 9, but problem didn't start until I updated AW to 1.4 yesterday (13th). I don't know, but I suspect that the S2 is dependent on AW, like Pebbles are.

Just a heads-up for the minority on this forum who may be tempted to upgrade AW to 1.4.

So it is Google Messenger version 1.6.043 released on November 9, that broke replying to Messenger texts from the S2. When I reverted to 1.3.030 problem went away. I would think that at least other Marshmallow users (or anyone on 1.6.043) would be having this problem, or at least these on non-Samsung phones.

I'm having similar issues. I get notification when i recieve a fb messenger message, but i cant read it on the gear s2. However I can respond on the message from my gear s2. THe problem is that I don't know what I'm responding unless I open the message and read it on the phone...
I'm running S edge 6+ with my gear s2

I have the exact same issue.. how did you go back to an old version of messenger and get it to work on the gear s2??

The same with me. It's infuriating. Unfortunately I believe the messenger devs don't care about gear s2 users...
