OK, I was copying some files from my computer and think I hosed this up. Some of the files were .ttf (true type fonts) so I copied them into the directory where the existing ones are. Now I can't get off of the HTC boot screen.

Have been unable to get to recovery menu also so can't even try wipe.

Any help with this?

I had something similar happen. ClockworkMod locked up during a backup and would not allow me to restore or so anything.

I ended up flashing anon recovery through terminal on my computer, then I was able to restore a previous nandroid backup.

Scared me for a second.

You should Google scottys noob root guide. There are directions on how to flash it there and they are very detailed.

Are you rooted yet?

Yes, already rooted on Scotts 1.7 GBE ROM. I was able to use his cleanFLASH tool, without a recovery image to get to amon RA recovery and now restoring nandroid. Whew, just wasn't able to get off the HTC boot screen. Would not boot to recovery at all, but restore in progress as we speak. backup is over a week old, but I can live with it.

I'll update with results, thanks for getting me out of my panic and thinking .... :D

EDIT: running nandroid backup now INCLUDING SD Card, Anyone know why I couldn't hardware boot to recovery?

This may be the reason you can't boot into recovery, when you install one of Scott's ROM the PH98IMG.zip file gets placed in the ext_sd folder. In my experience this file prevents you from booting into recovery because it wants to flash the ROM's boot image. If this is the problem, I found that all I had to do was rename the file, and then I was able to boot into recovery.

Thanks, yes I know that and removing the PH981IMG.zip is part of flashing the ROM (the last part) and I do it religiously so that wasn't it. The hardware procedure to boot into recovery didn't work at all (power + volume).

I was able to get to recovery via the cleanFlash tool (the terminal commands) so everything good now.
