Did I Download a Fake System Update?

Hello, yesterday I received a notification on my LG phone saying that there was a system update to the next version. I didn't really think anything of it and I was busy working at the time, so I just accepted and started the system update. I fairly sure that the notification did not come from an app, and it looked just like the other notifications I've gotten before. However, my phone has been stuck at the "Android is upgrading" screen for almost 24 hours. I can't really remember but I don't think that this looks like the other upgrade screens I've seen before. I'm at a loss as to what do to, as my phone responds to nothing I've tried, so I have just been waiting for it to die so I could start it up again. Any suggestions as to what is might be?

If you can't dump the battery, long press the power button. Just hold it until the device shuts down... It may take a minute or two..
