Did I get a defected Tab S8? Its white isn't as bright as my 5-year-old Tab A.

I'm comparing the Tab S8 base model with my Tab A from 2017. Both have the same brightness and color settings. No blue light filter, no comfort view, dark mode, whatsoever. My Note 10+ has nasty burn-in already, so I can't compare it with these two properly. Seems like the Tab A can be even brighter/whiter than both the Note 10+ and S8, though. How can a budget 5-year-old tablet have better white display?

Is this how this tablet is? Or did I get a bad unit?

I did some searching around, and apparently, the S7 and S8+ models are similar... Can someone who have these models verify for me? The people who reviewed the S8, in their video, looks like their white screen are also more like light grey, but I don't know if it's because of the camera or they turned their brightness down.

If you can take a picture of your tablet as well, it'd be easier to compare.

From what I can tell Samsung only released an 8" Tab A in 2017, which model specifically do you have?

The Tab S 8 only has a TFT LCD screen, they aren't as good of quality of the AMOLED displays in the larger versions of the tablet or some of Samsungs past tablets. It really is a weak point for this particular product.

The Tab S8 must have a Dark Mode, available in the Quick Panel and Settings->Display

Where did you buy your tablet?

They also released a 10-inch model. I believe this is the one.

I know S8 only has an LCD, but so does the Tab A. They both have LCD, how come one has brighter white than the other? I don't know if the other S8 models have better white display, though.

It does, but again, it's off. Both tablets are in the same settings. No dark mode. No eye comfort shield. Maximum brightness.
I bought it from Amazon.

OK, I misunderstood what you said, I thought ou meant that those were missing.

You should also compare the same pages since what appears white may not av tually be pure white. What if both tabs display that Google page?

Tab A would still have brighter white. Like you've seen in the 3rd picture. Same Youtube page.
