Did I get a lemon?

I am experiencing several issues that are leading me to believe that my Echo is a lemon:

1. I am getting random reboots. This usually happens when I wake the phone. I'll hit the power button to wake and my phone becomes unresponsive and will reboot.

2. I am getting what I call as "sleep locks", in other words, the phone will lock up sometime during it sleeping period. I will hit power and nothing will happen. Trying calling my cell with another phone and it will ring on the other phone, but the Echo will not respond. I have to pull the battery. This only seems to happen when I have the phone in a case. I have tested this by allocating 4 hours with the phone in my pocket and 4 hours with the phone in my case. While the phone is in my pocket, it is responsive and I experienced no lock up. Within minutes of putting the phone in the case, I got a sleep lock. The next 4 hours of the phone in the case I had to pull the battery at least 20 times.

The only thing that I can think of is that the case has a magnetic flap that keeps the phone secure. Is it possible that the magnet is causing these lock ups?

Thanks!

I have a leather belt case for the Echo I bought from Sprint, and I have not experienced any of the issues you have. Sounds to me like you may have a lemon.

It'd take it back to Sprint.

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your Echo. I have checked with some of my sources at Sprint and this issue has been reported to Kyocera and they are investigating and working on a possible fix for it. Keep in mind that we do offer a 30 day guarantee of satisfaction, and normally will gladly replace a defective unit with a new unit or another model within that first 30 days
