Android Central Question

I have a Samsung A20, and I've recently faced some problems with it. After throwing it on my bed, I went to pick it up and realized that though my youtube app was still playing a video, the screen was black. I went to turn it on, but the screen just didn't want to light up. Note that nothing was cracked, broken on the screen or the back.

So I forced restarted, let it die, charged it, and tried again, but nothing. Everything works normally, I can unlock my phone, use the apps and do everything I normally would be able to do I just can't see anything.

So once my phone is given to the repair guy, he's saying he needs to replace the entire screen when I'm pretty sure it's just the display that's the issue. Am I being ripped off or is this necessary?

Welcome to Android Central! If the screen doesn't come on at all after a reboot, then something happened either with the screen or the connection. It's always possible that it might just be a loose connection, so ask the repair person about that.
