Did I get the MM update or not?

A couple of months ago I started getting "reminders" to update. I deferred until I read about MM here. I read enough to decide I would keep deferring. It sounded like moderate risk of problems. I'm not much of an updater anyhow. More often than not, broken apps outweigh features. I depend on a few older apps that I know have no upgrade paths. (ran into big issues when upgrading from old phone). So I've been deferring daily.

However, a couple of weeks ago, when daily reminder time came, I was out in the sun and may have pressed something cause I couldn't see the screen well. I had a feeling something was selected, but not sure. The reminder screen has precedence over everything else. When I got back home (in wi-fi), I saw a downloading progress bar. Ugh... I immediately powered off the phone to interrupt it. When I restarted, nothing seemed to display differently. No download was in progress. No notice about an upgrade or any sign that anything was installed. No change of features noticed. All apps a-ok.

I am still get the daily reminder to update and I still defer it.

However, soon after that, I noticed my external sd card got renamed from external_sd to a number: B416_1234 or something like that. All my shortcuts to folders were broken. Probably some other filename side affects that I haven't discovered yet are still lurking.

Now I've noticed that my battery gets super hot once in a while in a couple of conditions (GPS on front seat in car in sun). One time it went into cool down mode. That reminded me of bad stories I had read here about the update. So I wondered if I got the update or not. Still getting daily requests to update.

My About Phone says 6.0. So it must have updated? Did it? Why is still reminding me to update? What about the cool-down? My warranty is over next month. Should I do anything? I hate that the battery is acting up. When I first got this phone I loved that the battery never heated up. My previous phone had horrible battery overheating issues.

You got the update. I would suggest a reset. That should fix the battery issue. I would just charge halfway before doing it.

Do you mean a factory reset? Isn't that a little drastic?

What about the continued daily reminder to system install?

This. Verizon will force an update on you even when you try to defer it. Typically it'll happen in the middle of the night while you're sleeping, essentially making it a sneak attack. Hopefully the reset fixes things for you.

Maybe you should update your phone. My G4 on MM, I have no problem seeing the screen in bright sunlight with brightness set to auto.

Yes. I'm sorry I should have been more clear.

Isn't that a little drastic?
I don't think so.
LG doesn't make it easy to reboot into recovery to clear the system cache. I'm not sure there is a way to boot into stock recovery on some LG models.

What about the continued daily reminder to system install?
That may be a left over cache data that keeps bringing up that message.
